◼ John Martyn, Sapphire (Island / Atlantic): Atmospheric synthesizer and folk-guitar improvisations with a Caribbean feel. Pretty good (though the guitars are not as prominent as previous fans might expect, or hope), especially after the disappointing flop of his last one,1 produced by Phil Collins. ★ ★ ★
1 Wrong. Glorious Fool was not a flop and Well Kept Secret was not produced by Phil Collins.
