"The poignant and beautiful Baby, Please Come Home is one of the highlights, but Martyn laughs off the uncomfortably personal lyrics: 'It really puts a spring in your step, that song.' It isn't all doom and gloom, by any means - the band have a ball with some of his funkier numbers, Martyn wrestling with his guitar and trading blows with the group's livewire saxophonist, Martin Winnings.
Hilarious comments between songs and withering replies to one pathetic heckler threatened to eclipse his wonderful music, but a blistering version of John Wayne, complete with Neil Young-esque, apocalyptic guitar solos, brought the proceedings to a glorious ending." (Richard Babington)

"It all kicked off slightly later than advertised, around 5:30pm. A wonderful evening of music ensued with performances from Reverie, Luca, Paul Derby, Vickers Vimy, Dara and an unexpected last minute guest artist the legendary John Martyn, who turned up for the gig when he heard this important charity would benefit. It was a magical evening of fantastic music with over 70 people in attendance. Over five hundred euro was raised through the generosity of the audience and the acts." (Mark O'Toole)

2008-11-14 UK, Cambridge, Corn Exchange. Tickets £ 24.50. "The band was superb, especially on Lookin On, fantastic drum solo from Arran Ahmun. John was as usual mostly unintelligible but hey it's about the music. Some of the G&D songs (Sweet little mystery, Hurt in your heart, Baby please come home) were gutwrenchingly delivered, quite upsetting really! The voice warmed up as we went along and was best by the time we got towards the end. After Cooltide, "One down..." and at one point he just exclaimed 'Horlicks' to general hilarity. Brilliant stuff, but no new material." (Diary note from John Hawkins).
