Push The Boat Out

BBC 2 Scotland
1 Jan 1991

Push The Boat Out was a series hosted by Aly Bain and filmed during Glasgow's Mayfest in 1990, during Glasgow's 1990 period as European City Of Culture. The series, shown on BBC Television in 1991, was set aboard a floating venue: the Renfrew Ferries.

First episode featured John and Eddi Reader. John did The Cure and May You Never, which he quipped Eric Clapton 'stole from him'. After Reader, John comes back with The Easy Blues followed by Solid Air.
The beginning of The Easy Blues is amusing as John starts off with some cliché blues chords and a bored face. After an audience comment he gets into The Easy Blues full swing.
